Canon Unveils New HD 2/3-inch HD Lenses
Canon Broadcast has introduced a new series of six high-definition lenses for 2/3-inch sensor cameras. The "FJ" lenses are aimed at the high definition cinematography market. They are available in focal lengths between 5 mm and 55 mm. Canon is also introducing a new anamorphic converter in conjunction with the lenses to provide 2.35:1 very wide aspect ratio image capture.
The lenses are designed for exemplary optical performance and are described by Canon as being the most compact, high performance and const-effective 2/3-inch lenses available.
Independent motion picture producer Javier Chapa used the entire FJ set of lenses in shooting a digital HD movie, "The Insatiable."
Javier welcomed the new lenses and anamorphic converter, saying, "It gives us a chance to compete against a lot of these heavy hitters in Hollywood who are shooting movies with 35mm film-camera packages."
