BitCentral Helps Fisher Get 'Precis' Play-out
Fisher Communications has tapped BitCentral to provide its Precis play-to-air system in four Oregon stations.

Precis enables national and regional broadcast outlets to upgrade to a file-based news workflow from ingest to air. The system ingests multiple video sources--microwave feeds or satellite sources--into the station's digital workflow and allows users to gather, edit, and file stories from a remote location. In addition, a digital archive system is put into place at all BitCentral installations.

Precis will be installed at KATU-TV, Fisher's ABC affiliate in Portland, Ore., KATU-TV, the CBS affiliate in Eugene, KVAL-TV, Coos Bay, KCBY-TV and Roseburg, KPIC-TV.

KATU will receive 14 dual-purpose ingest/edit workstations and 12 additionally dedicated video ingest channels, adding up to 26 simultaneous feeds.
