Axcera, L.A. Broadcasters Sign Transmission Deal
Four Los Angeles broadcasters, representing seven television stations have inked a $6 million deal with transmitter manufacturer Axcera to design and implement a combined television transmission system using digital and analog Axcera Visionary Series transmitters.

Axcera will supplyVisionary DT high-power inductive output tube DTV transmitters as well as analog Visionary transmitters. Both will be combined into two multichannel groups feeding a dual antenna system, which reduces the possibility of a single point failure for any of the stations.

The project uses Axcera's Adaptive Digital Equalization, which lets the transmitters automatically and continuously correct distortions in signal quality. Because of limited tower space in Southern Calif., the combined unmanned site rests on Mt. Wilson, which overlooks L.A. and its surrounding counties.
