ABU Digital Symposium Set
Following the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, which sparked digital broadcasting initiatives from many broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region, The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) is focusing on digital implementation in the 2009 ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium.

The event is being held 10–13 March at Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will address HDTV implementation, digital radio broadcasting and mobile broadcasting. Two sessions will be devoted to content and programming issues.

Technology workshops will include presentations of specific technologies for HDTV, SDTV, radio and mobile broadcasting.

Planned workshops will look at the Australian roll out of DAB+, an HD Radio trial in Vietnam, and a WorldDMB Forum Asia committee meeting.

McAdams On: Surplus Spectrum
Recall that broadcasters were accused of spectrum squatting when the digital transition took longer than the arbitrary timetable set by Congress.
