ABC Radio Gives Presentation on Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is a broadcast tool.
At least it can be, and that's the topic of a presentation during the NAB show. (Note, you might not have this one on listed on your daily planner yet; it's not part of the traditional radio conferences but is part of the New Media Professionals Conference.)
Tony Gatto, GM of radio operations for ABC News, will speak Wednesday, April 21 at 11:15 a.m.
ABC News Radio did its first live Wi-Fi broadcasts last September from lower Manhattan and Capitol Hill.
The company said Gatto "will address how recent revolutions in Wi-Fi technology have made it possible for reporters equipped with only a laptop computer to go live on the air from wherever there is Wi-Fi availability or a broadband connection."
Gatto said ABC News Radio has employed Wi-Fi in a number of situations "and it has proved itself to be unparalleled in terms of portability, versatility and most of all getting on the air immediately."
