A-T Opens Research Center

Mic maker Audio-Technica has opened a product research facility in Echizen City, Japan.

Called Technica Fukui, the center will consolidate several operations scattered throughout Japan. It will contain an acoustic lab and an anechoic chamber, and will employ RF-resistant construction. A strength of the center is expected to be in researching wireless technologies, the company said.

Audio-Technica U.S. Vice President of Marketing Greg Pinto, who recently visited the facility, described it in the company press release as a modern, three-story glass and stone building, "truly a work of art," with an open design in its work areas and conference rooms emphasizing a teamwork philosophy.

He said the wireless lab is the size of a basketball court.
