Streambox Donates Sat Services for Haiti Relief

01.19.2010

Streambox is making its Streambox Live satellite service free of charge to personnel involved in emergency relief for the Haitian earthquake. The offer extends to emergency relief organizations, government/military and broadcasters.

“Streambox Live is a service that we offer to facilitate emergency response and field/citizen newsgathering,” the company said in a statement. “In remote locations that have been devastated by natural disaster, high-bandwidth connections are often not available and many areas cannot be accessed by SNG/DNG trucks. With Streambox Live, news teams can enter these areas and send live, archiveable video with just a laptop, a camera or cell phone, and a low-bandwidth connection. In this manner, broadcasters, government/military, NGOs, and emergency relief organizations can share video in order to better coordinate communications efforts and spread awareness.”

For more information, contact the company at streamboxlive@streambox.com or call 206-956-0544.
