ABC's World News Now Goes HD

09.23.2009

The benefits of HD have been extended to those who keep untraditional hours or just suffer from constant insomnia with the announcement that ABC’s overnight news program, ABC World News Now has gone hi-def.

The announcement was fairly low-key--the only indication of the HD launch came from news anchors Jeremy Hubbard and Vanita Nair in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The show becomes the first overnight program to go all-HD.

WNN, which was launched in 1992, is produced and airs live in three half-hour segments, from 2:00 a.m. ET through 3:30 a.m. ET, Monday Morning-Friday mornings. The show has become a staple among the insomniac crowd, taking a more lighthearted approach to the news. No word yet on whether its theme song, “The World News Polka” is available in 5.1.

Terrific. There is a difference. Also, I want to send all best wishes to Vinita Nair on her approaching marriage! Hope she will be back we so enjoy watching her and Jeremy Hubbard on World News Now.
