Rogers Communications Founder Dies at 75

Edward Samuel "Ted" Rogers, the founder and CEO of Rogers Communications and a titan in Canadian business, has died at age 75 at his home in Toronto, the company announced.

"Ted Rogers was one-of-a-kind who built this company from one FM radio station into Canada's largest wireless, cable and media company,” said Alan Horn, chairman of Rogers Communications and acting CEO. “[He was] a leader also in giving to the community through his and Loretta's many philanthropic initiatives. He will be sadly missed."

Rogers, who suffered from congestive heart failure, saw his health weaken over the past few years.

The Rogers Communications Board of Directors will form a special committee to lead an internal and external search for a new CEO. Horn will continue to lead the company until then.

Rogers includes Canada’s largest wireless provider and one of Canada's largest providers of cable television services and high-speed Internet access. It also operates radio and television stations and televised shopping, magazines and trade publications, and sports efforts.
