Streambox Fires Up Encoders at IBC2008

At IBC 2008, Seattle-based Streambox will release a software-only version of the company’s Streambox ACT-L3 encoder. The software encoder has been successfully deployed for several years and is now available for general release. It’s typically used for live and file-based newsgathering and video acquisition over low-data-rate IP networks.

Making its international debut at IBC is the Streambox mobile software encoder, for streaming breaking news and events via broadband . It uses Streambox’s proprietary compression technologies, allowing delivery of content to the newsroom while at the same time powering video portals and social networking sites.

The integrated Streambox solution for file-based video acquisition provides enhanced management of field-generated video files for on-demand or scheduled play out of a variety of video formats including raw ACT-L3 and QuickTime-wrapped ACT-L3 files. The solution comprises the Streambox store-and-forward server, store-and-forward client, and media station.

The latest rackmount HD video transport system from Streambox, the SBT3-9200, offers significant enhancements and provides full-frame 1080i/720p HD broadcast video and audio over IP-based networks from 512 Kbps to 30 Mbps.

For newsgathering and broadcast video, Streambox is showing the integrated SBT3-9500 HD/SD encoder. It enables live and file-based newsgathering, video transport and acquisition in HD and SD in a lightweight and compact chassis.
