SAMMA Systems has named broadcast industry veteran Charles Taylor vice president of broadcast and production sales for the U.S. market.

Taylor has more than 25 years experience in the industry, including 23 years with Sony Electronics. At Sony, he held sales, marketing and executive positions, rising from sales engineer to senior vice president of the studios and post division.

Taylor began his career as a field engineer for Ampex Corp. where he advanced to the position of senior staff engineer during his nine-year tenure. In addition, Taylor has provided professional sales and organizational consultancy services to numerous broadcast technology companies. Most recently, Taylor served as vice president of worldwide sales for Zaxel Systems Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of advanced video compression technologies.
