'Radio' Podcast Goes National - Without Radio
Is this the first in a trend?
Beginning April 1, "Red Bar Radio," a Chicago talk show podcast, goes national via the Genesis Communications Network. Principals say that makes it the first podcast to be picked up by a national radio syndicate without first airing on terrestrial radio.
Mike David and Ron Galperin created the show in 2003 with no previous radio experience. They ran it from Galperin's basement, funding the daily two-minute audio clip show with funds garnered from side jobs as film editors and graphic designers.
With syndication from the Genesis Communications Network, the show gets a new night and time, Saturdays 9-11p.m. central.
