'Border Radio' Book Is Updated
A revised edition of the book "Border Radio" is in print. The book by Gene Fowler and Bill Crawford has the compelling subtitle of "Quacks, Yodelers, Pitchmen, Psychics and Other Amazing Broadcasters of the American Airwaves." It covers "radio outlaws" who operated superpower stations just south of the Mexican border from the 1930s to the 1980s. The new edition has more photos and first-hand information. The introduction is by the late Wolfman Jack. The University of Texas Press publishes the book. Info: www.utexas.edu/utpress/excerpts/exfowbor.html.
