The first open meeting of the regime of Acting FCC Chairman Michael Copps will be all-DTV affair, consistent with his previous statements that the DTV transition is the most urgent matter now before the commission.

The agenda announced for the Feb. 5 meeting includes “presentations and discussion by senior agency officials as well as industry, consumer groups and others involved in the Digital Television Transition.”

The purpose of the meeting, according to the agenda released Thursday, is “to educate and inform the Commission and the public about the status and issues involved with the upcoming Digital Television Transition.”

Copps has been critical of the FCC’s engagement on the issue under former Chairman Kevin Martin.

But the DTV landscape could change dramatically before the FCC meeting; Congress is expected to take another stab early next week at delaying the DTV transition deadline from Feb. 17 to June 12.
